Ingredients
Scale
- 185/ 5oz can tuna (in springwater), drained
- 1/4 cup carrots, diced
- 1/4 cup celery, diced
- 2 tablespoons red onion, diced
- 1/4 cup greek yoghurt
- 1 teaspoon dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- salt + pepper, to taste
- 2 wholemeal bread rolls cut in half or 2-4 slices sourdough
- 3-4 slices cheddar cheese
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl add the drained tuna, chopped carrot, celery, onion, yoghurt, parsley, lemon juice, mustard, salt and pepper. Stir all of the ingredients together until well combined.
- Add a scoop of tuna salad to each piece of bread and use a spoon to push it out to each edge of the bread.
- Once it looks good, take your cheese slices and press on top. Make sure you press the cheese down to ensure it doesn't fly off in the air fryer. Put a toothpick in each corner of the bread, so it stays put.
- Now, your open faced tuna melt sandwich is ready for air fryer. Shut the air fryer basket and set it to air fry at 380F for 8 minutes, checking halfway through to ensure the cheese is still in tact.
- It’s done when you see melty cheese and golden brown edges to your preference!
Notes
Store air fried tuna melts on a plate, cover with cling wrap and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat by placing in the air fryer for 3 minutes to warm through and re melt the cheese.
