This 5-minute air fryer tortilla pizza is cheesy, crispy, and so easy to make! Add any toppings you want for the perfect lunch, dinner or snack.
Making tortilla pizzas in the air fryer is an absolute game changer. Since we use a flour tortilla as the base, it cooks faster than regular pizza dough and requires minimal prep. It’s easy, budget friendly and super customisable!
I topped mine with pizza sauce, spinach for a sneaky serve of sneaky greens, mozzarella cheese and fresh basil. But you can add whatever combo you fancy. Plus, the air fryer makes the best thin and crispy pizza crust! If you don’t have an air fryer, you can bake them in the oven for 10 minutes instead.
Ingredients you’ll need
The air fryer tortilla pizza base recipe only requires 3 ingredients, plus your favourite toppings of choice.
- Flour tortillas: Use regular flour tortillas, gluten free tortillas or almond flour tortillas. I don’t recommend corn tortillas here.
- Sauce: Pizza sauce, marinara sauce or even pesto.
- Cheese: I love fresh mozzarella but cheddar, provolone or even a little parmesan are also great.
- Toppings: I kept mine simple and added chopped baby spinach and basil. Find lots of ideas below!
Topping ideas
These tortilla pizzas are super customisable. I like using a variety of toppings and combinations when making these. Here are some topping ideas you should try:
- Sauce: pizza sauce, marinara sauce, pesto or BBq sauce.
- Meats: Pepperoni, leftover cooked chicken, Italian sausage, vegan sausage, ham or bacon.
- Veggies: capsicum (bell peppers), tomato slices, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, baby spinach, olives or pineapple.
- Seasonings: Italian dried herbs, garlic, fresh basil, red pepper flakes.
How to make tortilla pizza in the air fryer
Start by spraying the bottom of the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray.
Place the tortilla on the bottom of the air fryer basket.
Use a spoon to spread the pizza sauce across the tortilla. I like to leave a little 1/2 an inch border.
Top with chopped spinach (or desired toppings) and shredded cheese.
Air fry at 180°C/ 400°F for 5 – 6 minutes.
Using the spatula, remove tortilla pizza from the air fryer.
Garnish with freshly chopped basil. Slice and enjoy!
What to serve with air fry tortilla pizza
I like to serve these alongside a simple spinach salad or my pesto orzo salad.
How to store leftover air fryer tortilla pizzas
Fridge: Store leftover air-fried tortilla pizza in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Freeze: You can also freeze cooked pizzas in a zip lock bag for up to 3 months.
Recipe FAQ
I recommend using regular flour or almond flour tortillas for this recipe as they are larger, more flexible. Corn flour tortillas are smaller, more firm and with a sweet flavour.
The best way to get it crispy would be to spray cooking oil on the outer edges of the tortilla prior to cooking it. Also, avoid using too many toppings or extremely wet toppings.
If your tortilla pizza is wet/ soggy, chances you likely used too much sauce and toppings. Since tortillas are thin you need to go light on the toppings
Yes! Simply use non dairy/ vegan cheese instead.
